Tamaulipas to get new shrimp aquaculture parks

The governor of Tamaulipas, Mexico, Egidio Torre CantĂș, plans to complete the construction of several industrial areas that will house four shrimp aquaculture parks in late 2012. To that end, four major areas were identified along the state coast appropriate for the development of these parks, said Mauricio Etienne Llano, Undersecretary for Fisheries and Aquaculture of Tamaulipas Government.
Under the strategic project of the state, the shrimp parks will be built in an area of 13,000 hectares suitable for aquaculture developments in the areas of San Fernando, Soto la Marina, Aldama and southern Tamaulipas. Etienne Llano said they are working with the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (UAT) and the Centre for Biological Research of the Northwest (CIBNOR) to conduct technical and production studies for the construction of the four parks.
