In a collaborative pilot venture, a Brown trout (Salmo trutta) farm is being set up in the Falkland Islands, an archipelago located in the South Atlantic Ocean.

Fusion Marine and Kames Fish Farming, both based in Scotland, UK have worked on this pilot brown trout venture with the aim of assessing the breeding and fattening potential this species has when farmed in sea pens in waters near the archipelago.

“We have forged a very close working relationship with Kames and there is over 60 years of combined experience in the aquaculture industry between the two companies. By utilising this expertise and drawing upon our particular strengths, we have over the years successfully completed a number of fish farm installations often for pilot projects similar to this one in the Falklands,” said Stephen Divers, managing director of Fusion Marine.
