12/02/2016: Aquaculture 2016 – February 22-26, 2016, Paris Hotel & Convention Centre, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Aquaculture 2016 is poised for a record breaking meeting in Las Vegas starting February 22.  
Over 200 booths will be showing the latest in aquaculture supplies, programs and equipment. Nearly 3 000 attendees will take part in the Program which features 14 concurrent sessions over 4 days including 87 sessions on nearly all aspects of aquaculture.  In addition, there will be over 200 posters displayed.

The plenary - titled 'The future of aquaculture and its role in the global food system' - will be given by James Anderson.

James L Anderson is director of the new Institute for Sustainable Food Systems and professor of Food and Resource Economics at the University of Florida.  
Prior to joining UF, he was the advisor for Oceans, Fisheries and Aquaculture and leader of the Global Program on Fisheries and Aquaculture (PROFISH) at The World Bank. 

Prof Anderson joined The World Bank in 2010 after chairing the Department of Environmental & Natural Resource Economics at the University of Rhode Island.

His research has focused on natural resource management, fisheries and aquaculture economics, markets and international trade.

Recent work has been directed toward the role of seafood in food security, constraints to aquaculture development, and evaluating how aquaculture is changing global natural resource use in both developed and developing nations.  He received his PhD from the University of California, Davis.
